"There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen?
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray" - Seal

DEEPER DEPTHS is a series of paintings in collaboration with Michael Hancock which explores oceanic life as a subject through vivid, psychedelic imagery. From the shallows, to the reefs, to the dark depths of deep sea, these paintings highlight the creatures that dwell beneath the waves. This series of paintings aims to blur the line between deep sea and deep space to bring into focus the expansive, diverse world that lies within the ocean. This is paralleled by the blurred lines between which artist holds the hamd of creation in each part of the paintings. By drawing the connections between ocean and cosmos, the life-forms that we take at face value are shown as the magnificent alien creatures that they are. Through this imagery, the artists hope to bring into focus the bounty of life that we cohabitate with on this giant, blue sphere hurling through the universe. With today’s ecological turmoil due to global climate change, we are at a pivotal point in our relationship with our planet. By highlighting these creatures in their environment in a heightened setting, the series seeks to bring awareness to the looming destruction of all of the beauty on this planet.
